1.Tell us why anyone would want come to your hometown?
I am most grateful for faith and family. As the mother of eight children and one foster daughter, I have seen the happiness and strength that comes from living the values and teachings associated with our faith. My husband of thirty years, our children and now three grandchildren are my treasures! We draw strength from our faith, from each other, and we rally around each other with unconditional love.

2.What are the (2) most important things in your closet and why?
I want to help children realize that they are more than just their circumstances. As an international speaker and mentor, I have, along with several relief organizations, helped to educate and improve living conditions in several countries as well as my home state of Utah. I hope to help facilitate change where hope and opportunity can be created for children across the world.

3.What do you love to cook and why?
I think the best feeling in the world is home. The feeling of home is where you feel safe and loved. A simple kiss on the cheek, or words of comfort after a rough day is all it takes for me to feel at peace. This is why I love helping to bring the feeling of home to children, in any capacity that I can. Home is not a place, but a feeling.

4.If you had an extra hour each day, what would you do?
The key to family is not blood, but LOVE. As the mother of nine children including one foster child, I am most grateful for the love that creates a family. When my daughter Vickey came into my life at the age of sixteen, I knew she was meant to be a part of our family. As an ambassador for America’s Kid’s Belong, I support building families through foster care and adoption.

5.Describe the dirtiest job you have ever had to do?
The combination of barking and children’s laughter. As a pet therapist, my dog Indy and I visit children at hospitals, courtrooms and libraries. It melts my heart to hear their sweet giggles as they embrace Indy and bury their faces in his fluffy white fur. They are able to take a reprieve from their struggles and I am reminded that despite the challenges we each face, we can find joy in the journey.
